Developing Your Strength

We all know that life happens. What we receive is not always fair. AND there are moments where we may ask, "What have I done to deserve this?" The answer may very well be nothing. We do not always receive a ration in life according to our deeds.

Fact:
  • Good and bad things happen to good people.
  • Good and bad things happen to people that do bad things and act bad.

There are instances where things occur and we are not sure or do not know how we can survive it. The answer is through finding your strength and resolve. Strength, like a muscle, is developed over time and requires implementing a few points.

Mindset – If you subscribe to a victim mentality, you will always find yourself in the role of a victim. You will not find strength in constantly identifying yourself as a victim.

Know Your Position – Is what is occurring truly about you or is it someone else’s stuff or issue? Everything that happens to us is not always about us.

It’s Not About You – We are human and by default we have the tendency to take things personally. Recognize that your role may be one of a supporting character or an extra. What you are going through may have more to do with another character and unfortunately, you somehow factor into the equation.

Everything Happens for a Reason – In the midst of enduring, one must have an awareness that something will be revealed down the line. It can include (1) a lesson that you need to learn, (2) a removal of yourself from a situation or relationship, or (3) guidance towards a path that you have avoided.

Life Does Not Stop – While you are going through your struggle, life continues. What are you going to do about it? Find an outlet that works for you such as running or kicking a punching bag. Rely on friends and family to talk things out and through. You may even consider speaking with a professional.

Our strength is developed over time from our setbacks in life. Without challenges we would not be able to grow in our resolve. To that end, here are some steps to note.

1. Acknowledge what you are feeling in your moments of crisis.
2. Step back and look to see your place in the matter.
3. Discover if it is or is not about you.
4. Develop and follow a course of action.

WARNING: You will have situations that ARE NOT about you, but someone else. You may want to help. You can, but fair warning, you cannot help those who either do not want it or are not ready.
“The most beautiful people I’ve known are those who have known trials, have known struggles, have known loss, and have found their way out of the depths.”~ Elisabeth Kübler-Ross
